HAWAIIAN PUNCH EUROPEAN TOUR 2008

Cool as punch and as slick as an Obama speech, thirtynine hotel is a great place to host a party. While sitting out on their second-floor patio, you'd think you were in San Francisco’s trendy Tenderloin district instead of Honolulu’s Hotel Street. Down below, neo-bohemians commingle with the mundane wannabes and junkies for a mix that makes up the new China Town. Up above, however, was our Hawaiian Punch! Euro Tour send-off party with the sick, live hip-hop sound of The Spacifics. The Go Jimmy Go horn section pulled double duty, and sat in on most of the tunes as the emcee's rattled lyrics and pumped fists into the crowd. A surprise treat for the crowd was a sneak peek at Shon's replacement on drums for the tour, Johnny, who jumped up for a few hits in the middle of it all. What's even more of a surprise was that Johnny’s drum playing was the catalyst for a chain of events we're still laughing about 'til this very day: Shon, now free from his shackles, grabbed the extra mic and starting making like he was Bison or something, and starting singing and scatting at free will, wantonly going where no drummer had ever possibly gone before.

Big ups to Aaron from Honozooloo.com for the sick pictures. Make sure to check out his website for even more on the China Town circuit and the haps on the local hip scene.
